Transformation of the Bulovna complex into a museum with public spaces, creating a vibrant cultural destination that integrates existing industrial heritage with new contemporary architecture.

Project description

The project proposes the conversion of the Bulovna building complex into a museum facility. The design features a new glazed entrance pavilion that creates a welcoming public courtyard space between the existing buildings. The ground floor includes exhibition spaces, a café, and public amenities opening onto landscaped outdoor areas. Upper floors contain gallery spaces, workshops, and administrative functions distributed across multiple levels. The architectural language combines the preserved industrial character of the existing structures with modern glass and steel additions, creating transparency and visual connections between interior and exterior spaces.

Technical information

The project is organized across four floors (1.NP through 4.NP) with a clear circulation system. The floor plans show a combination of large open exhibition halls and smaller subdivided rooms. The site plan indicates careful integration with the surrounding urban context, including new pedestrian pathways and bicycle infrastructure. The new additions feature large glazed facades with structural timber or steel framing, while the existing masonry buildings are retained and adapted. A section drawing at the bottom of the board illustrates the vertical relationships between floors.
