Revival of Heritage Precinct : A Heritage Village At Daulatabad

Project idea

Daulatabad Fort and it’s precinct once a capital was known for its strategic geographical location for control over Mughal Empire and widely known for its Art. Culture, Craft & Trade. now remains just a village with very less importance. Historically every city grew either as small unit around ecological features/ hills and over the years of changing rulers, the city grew into unique settlement due to trade routes, rich Art, Culture and Craft lead to expansion or in this case either just get abandon. How should the people remember the place, structure and culture (as a tourist spot or a key city in making of the history)?

Project description

Current context & architecture infrastructure can aid in re-imagining the lost. To create new system of value addition, association, identity, social & public life. Making the ruins as infrastructure for the development. Developing and promote self-sustainable infrastructure and ensure proper operations and maintenance of infrastructure.

Technical information

Idea is to develop infrastructure in union without losing the monumental value of context, with the objective of ensuring provision of amenities and facilities at the heritage precinct, enhancing overall tourist experience and providing necessary momentum to the economic development of the village.

Revival of Heritage Precinct : A Heritage Village At Daulatabad

The context of this project is very interesting due to its complexity as it's located at the intersection of different topological, historical & socio-economical levels. Approaching such a complex site requires very sophisticated research and investigations, to which I appreciate the layered methods that were preconized for the analysis phase which really helped identify the 3 components mentioned earlier. However, in order to continue to build on the successful analysis, it's very important to consider the fact that complex problems require complex solutions: So in addition to remembering the place for what it WAS, it's also important to consider it for what it IS now to achieve a sustainable solution. Based on this thought process, maybe instead of focalizing the solution only in one specific location, it would've been very interesting if the project targeted multiple locations at once and worked on each different one according to its specific micro-context & immediate surroundings while aiming to maintain a strong link between them on a macro-context basis.
