Golden Spiral Pavilion

Project idea

A pavilion inspired by the Golden Spiral, a mathematical pattern representing growth, harmony, and balance. The design translates the concept into a three-dimensional spatial experience that creates a fluid spatial exploration.

Project description

The Golden Spiral Pavilion draws from the natural occurrence of the golden ratio found in nature, translating this mathematical concept into an architectural form. The design follows a spiral path that guides movement and creates rhythmic sequences through repeated vertical fins arranged along a spiral trajectory. The concept development progresses from the golden spiral abstraction to rhythmic sequencing, creating spatial experiences with continuity, guided movement, and visual permeability. The pavilion features multiple levels with stepped platforms following the spiral geometry, illuminated to enhance the dramatic spatial quality.

Technical information

The pavilion uses a ribbed structural system composed of repeated vertical fins arranged along a spiral path. These elements act as both structural and spatial components, transferring loads to a circular ring foundation while maintaining openness, lightness, and visual permeability. The structure employs a ribbed system where fins serve dual structural and aesthetic purposes. Materials include real pavilion materials with specific textures and color palettes. A physical maquette was also produced to validate the design concept.
