Project idea
The pavilion is inspired by the natural flow of coastal landscapes and the interaction between land and sea. The design translates topographic contour lines into an architectural experience, creating a sculptural space that merges with its environment. The project aims to provide a landmark destination for gathering, contemplation, and cultural events while celebrating the beauty of the coastline. Through its fluid geometry and open spatial organization, the pavilion encourages visitors to experience movement, light, and nature in a unique way.
Project description
The project consists of a contemporary coastal pavilion located along the shoreline. The design is organized around a series of layered topographic platforms that gradually rise from the landscape and form an accessible public space. At the center, a sculptural circular structure composed of elegant arches creates shaded gathering areas and viewing points toward the sea. The pavilion integrates seamlessly with the surrounding environment through its organic contours, creating a continuous relationship between architecture and landscape. The space can accommodate relaxation, social interaction, cultural activities, exhibitions, and small events. During the day, the structure interacts with sunlight and shadows, while at night it becomes an illuminated landmark overlooking the waterfront.
Technical information
The pavilion is designed using a parametric approach based on topographic contour geometry. The structure consists of lightweight steel framing with CNC-fabricated panels forming the curved architectural elements and arches. The layered landscape platforms are constructed using reinforced concrete foundations with durable exterior finishing suitable for coastal environments. The pavilion’s exterior surfaces are finished with weather-resistant materials in turquoise and blue tones, reflecting the colors of the sea and sky. The design incorporates integrated LED lighting to enhance the architectural form during nighttime. The open-air structure maximizes natural ventilation and daylight while providing shaded areas for visitors. The project is designed to withstand coastal climate conditions, including wind, humidity, and salt exposure.
