Project idea
Healing children through curved and organic architectural spaces - a Trauma & Anxiety Healing Center for Children that uses biophilic and organic design principles to create therapeutic environments.
Project description
The project is a children's healing center designed with curved and organic forms to support trauma and anxiety recovery. The design incorporates benefits of curved and organic design for children's healing, including reducing stress and anxiety, connecting with nature, encouraging exploration, supporting emotional recovery, and building connection. The building features multiple levels with organic, flowing floor plans that integrate landscaped courtyards, water features, and green spaces throughout. The Maggie's Centre typology serves as a case study inspiration, with references to Maggie's Centre Leeds, Maggie's Centre Fife, and Maggie's Centre Barts. The design elements include natural materials, calm palette, light, experience-driven spaces, and overall atmosphere focused on creating safe and nurturing environments for children.
Technical information
The building is organized across multiple levels: Level 4m Ground Plan, Level 4.8m 1st Plan, Level 8m 1st Plan, and Level 8m 2nd Plan, all drawn at 1:200 scale. The documentation includes two sections (Section 1 and Section 2 at 1:200), two elevations (Elevation 1 and Elevation 2 at 1:200), and a site layout at 1:200. The curvilinear building forms create interconnected wings with integrated landscape elements including pools, green roofs, and extensive planting.
