Idea projektu

The building is a social reintegration center for those released from the prison system that seeks to generate support for the rehabilitation process.

The project is the materialization of the response to a need. A need that we have as a society to eradicate the vicious cycle that is generated through the prison system. For this, it is necessary to offer the opportunity to those who return to live in society, to have a physical support, where they can reconnect with their interiorities, their socio-affective and productive capacities. That is why the building condenses a programmatic mix, where there are temporary accommodations, therapy rooms, infirmaries, shared spaces, administration, multipurpose spaces, workshops, training workshops and commercial programs. The intervention is carried out on an existing property in the city of Montevideo, where there are currently 2 abandoned factories. The game is to generate space in the heart of the block as a symbol of welcome to the city. In this way, by conserving a sector of the factory, a new building with a totally different language is projected in contrast to the pre-existing. A project of contrasts.

The project has been made entirely in Archicad for modeling and Twinmotion for rendering.

In this case, considering the radio chemical effects from the old factory is very significant. The architectural design should take in consideration the isolation of the building from the chemical products existing because it was used previously as a factory. I would also recommend the usage of renewable energies such as solar pannels for instance. The skylight would be a good location to place transparent solar pannels; that will not only let natural sunlight in the building but also produce natural electricity (which will make the project more green). The usage of local contruction materials will reduce the building cost and save electrity for the users. For instance, if it's easy to get clay from where the project is located, I would use it inside the maconnery walls. In this case, the clay will reduce the transmition of outside temperature inside the building; therefor, the temperature inside will stay consistent. However, I find your project very interresting. The renderings and the idea of recycling the building is very interresting.
