Motijheel , being the major commercial hub of Bangladesh , is one of the busiest areas of Dhaka city. Its proposed metro station will face a huge load of passengers on a daily basis during office hours.
Our proposal was to identifying potential urban spaces around station and connecting them through elevated walkway . These walkways will lead a passenger to plaza spaces ( in a walkable radius ) working both as breathing spaces as well as transfer points.
Plaza spaces encompasses vehicle stands, seating spaces, restaurants and different kind of amenities.
In addition, space underneath the station is used for vendors and green spaces.

Generating Urban Spaces through Elevated Pedestrian Network
This project addresses the urgent need for pedestrian management and public space generation in the congested commercial district of Motijheel, Dhaka, with a thoughtful and pragmatic urban design strategy. The elevated walkway network, connecting metro stations to plaza spaces, offers an innovative and human-centered solution that enhances urban mobility, safety, and vibrancy. The integration of vehicle stands, vendor spaces, green areas, and amenities underneath the elevated structures maximizes land use efficiency and improves urban livability. The clear application of Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) principles demonstrates a strong academic foundation. Greater emphasis on microclimatic comfort and universal accessibility in the elevated pathways would further strengthen the project’s resilience and inclusivity. Overall, this proposal provides a highly relevant, scalable, and socially impactful model for urban transformation in dense metropolitan contexts.
