Technické informácie

The construction of the Maize Research Center focuses on utilizing locally sourced materials and sustainable building practices to create a facility that is not only efficient but also environmentally friendly. Locally Sourced Materials: Stone: One of the primary construction material for the center’s foundation and structural elements, providing durability and a strong connection to the local environment. Aluminium Roofing: Lightweight and corrosion-resistant, aluminium roofing will be used to ensure longevity and low maintenance. Structural Elements: Steel Trusses and Long Span Beams: These will be employed to create large, open spaces within the center, providing structural integrity and flexibility in the design. The use of steel trusses supports the long-span requirements of the mechanization hub and multi-purpose hall.Low Maintenance Finishes: Exterior Finishes: Durable and low-maintenance finishes, such as treated wood, stone veneers, and weather-resistant coatings, will be used to ensure the longevity of the building’s exterior. Interior Finishes: Easy-to-clean surfaces and materials that require minimal upkeep will be selected for the interior spaces, including tiles, polished concrete, and washable paints. Innovative Roofing Solutions: Retractable Roof for Amphitheater: The amphitheater will feature a retractable roof to allow for open-air events when weather permits and provide shelter when necessary. This flexibility enhances the usability of the space for various functions and events. Aluminium Roofing for Main Structures: The main buildings will be covered with aluminium roofing, known for its durability, lightweight properties, and resistance to environmental factors, ensuring a long-lasting and low-maintenance roofing solution. Sustainable Design Features: Energy Efficiency: The building will incorporate energy-efficient systems, including LED lighting, energy-saving HVAC systems, and passive solar design principles to minimize energy consumption. Water Management: Rainwater harvesting systems will be installed to collect and reuse water for irrigation and other non-potable uses, promoting sustainable water management practices. Natural Ventilation and Lighting: The design will maximize natural ventilation and daylighting through strategically placed windows, skylights(solar tubes), and ventilation systems to reduce the reliance on artificial lighting and mechanical ventilation.

Maize Agricultural Research Center

The presentation of the Maize Agricultural Research Center Design Proposal is well thought out and thoroughly structured. The clarity and organization in the presentation make it easy to navigate through the different sections, while the renders visually bring the project to life. You’ve done an excellent job of illustrating the relationship between the research and community spaces, making the flow of activities within the center feel intuitive and people-centered. I particularly appreciate how the plans prioritize both the needs of the researchers and the comfort of the visitors, ensuring that the facility serves as a true hub for agricultural innovation and community engagement. The choice of color in the presentation board is tasteful and reflects the project's core values of sustainability and environmental harmony. The colors are earthy and warm, creating a welcoming atmosphere that complements the natural surroundings of the site in Ejura, Ghana. It feels both grounded and professional, aligning well with the center's goal of blending technology and nature. Your statement on using locally sourced materials resonates with the project’s core idea of sustainability and environmental connection. The design is clearly grounded in both the local culture and the ecological needs of the area. The focus on low-maintenance finishes and innovative solutions, like the retractable roof for the amphitheater, shows thoughtful consideration for longevity and versatility in the building’s use. One suggestion I’d like to offer is to make the vegetation in your renders a bit more realistic. Including a few people in the spaces would also add life to your visuals, allowing the vibrancy of the project to shine through and making it easier for people to imagine themselves in the space. Thank you, MAAME YAA AFRA INCOOM, for your hard work and congratulations on joining the Inspirele competition! Your proposal reflects a deep understanding of both the agricultural sector and community development. The careful consideration of people’s needs, along with your commitment to sustainability, is impressive. Keep up the great work!
