chale wote festival space(GHANAIAN STREET FESTIVAL)

Idea projektu

This structure resembles a large Ghanaian Adinkrahene-patterned fabric billowing in Kyrenia's prevailing east wind, situated between the historic Kyrenia Castle and the expansive sea. The fabric's patterns form openings below, where bamboo umbrellas provide shade for local markets and festive events. Once an abandoned coffee spot, this site has now transformed into a place where cultures interweave with nature, gracefully adapting to the passage of time and inviting both tourists and locals to dwell in its embrace.

Popis projektu

The project features a market space located at the entrance, creating a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. On either side of this space, there are art display areas for murals and wall-mounted artworks. Additionally, there is an outdoor cinema where visitors can gather to watch visual presentations of Ghanaian culture. The project also includes a relaxation center that takes advantage of the scenic Kyrenia sea and a local-centric restaurant providing refreshments.

Technické informácie

The project incorporates durable and visually appealing stone pavement chosen for its strength and aesthetic qualities. Bamboo is creatively used to construct pavilion columns and umbrellas, highlighting a commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious design. The seating areas are carefully made from wood, promoting the use of natural and sustainable materials in architecture. This comprehensive approach creates an environmentally friendly architectural design, creating a lively and inviting atmosphere for the Cultural Fusion Market on the Kyrenia Shores.

chale wote festival space(GHANAIAN STREET FESTIVAL)

The technical data presented for the Cultural Fusion Market on the Kyrenia Shores is clear, well-structured, and easy to understand. The choice of materials—such as stone pavement, bamboo, and wood—not only enhances the project's durability but also emphasizes environmental responsibility. These thoughtful technical decisions contribute to a strong, sustainable foundation for the project. The graphics used are simple yet effective, allowing the viewer to focus on the key aspects of the design without unnecessary distractions. The perspectives are well done, offering meaningful glimpses into how the spaces will feel and function. They communicate the project's intention and ambiance, especially in relation to its coastal and cultural context. The concept—inspired by a billowing Ghanaian Adinkrahene-patterned fabric—is imaginative and powerful. It reflects a beautiful merging of Ghanaian identity with Kyrenia’s local landscape, creating a symbolic space for cultural exchange, community events, and artistic appreciation. From the market area to the outdoor cinema and art zones, the spatial programming is thoughtful and inclusive. The Cultural Fusion Market on the Kyrenia Shores is a poetic and well-crafted proposal. Godwin Israel, I appreciate the care you've taken in integrating cultural storytelling, sustainability, and architectural clarity. It's a truly compelling design—great work!
