Project idea
The energy of motion transforms avian flight trajectories and rotational forces into a fluid spatial architectural form.
Project description
A pavilion design inspired by the dynamics of bird flight, translating avian motion trajectories and rotational forces into an organic, flowing architectural form. The concept is developed through line analysis of flight patterns, which are then abstracted into a three-dimensional spatial composition. The design process includes sketch development, physical model making using HDF and other materials, and digital rendering to visualize the final pavilion form.
Technical information
The design features an exposed, self-supporting space frame structure (diagrid system) comprised of circular hollow steel profiles connected via spherical Mero joints to seamlessly form the fluid, organic curves. Model materials include aluminum tubes. The pavilion is presented with plan, elevation, left side view, and right side view drawings with a scale reference of approximately 10m span. Physical models were constructed to test the spatial and structural qualities of the design.
