Resource-saving high-rise residential complex on Cherkavsky Peninsula in Vladivostok

Project idea

As part of the training course "Architecture Design" in the 5th year, the author of the article proposed a project for a high-rise territory in Vladivostok. The design site is located in the Churkin district. The selected site, together with Cross Hill, forms the gateway to Golden Horn Bay, the place interacts in composition with other high-rise dominants of Vladivostok and serves as the completion of the high-rise ensemble of the city. Now the infrastructure on the territory is very poorly developed despite the proximity to the city center. The creation of a progressive complex on this territory will give an impetus to the development of the Cherkassky Peninsula and Vladivostok itself as a whole. Due to the high density on the site, a large number of people will have the opportunity to live closer to the city center in an eco-friendly complex with amazing views and a private garden for almost all residents.

Project description

The project pays special attention to the interaction of nature and man at all levels of socialization. Each garden has its specialization and meaning; it varies from food production to a sports garden and from a pocket park to urban wildlife. Individual gardens are connected by public routes and paths, as well as a network. Also, the facade of the building is an essential element, offering shade, protection from wind and opportunities for collecting rainwater. The facade and roof of the building are equipped with catchment nets and tanks. The accumulated water is used for watering trees and for the household needs of residents. Solar panels are available on the western facades, which are also sunscreen for residents.

Technical information

Designing eco-sustainable high—rise buildings is a rather complex task, which requires an integrated approach to solve. When forming space-planning solutions for energy-efficient high-rise office buildings, it is necessary to take into account all the terrain features, both climatic and urban planning, which implies an individual approach to design, for example, in Vladivostok, under the influence of a monsoon climate with severe windy winters and rainy summers, special principles of shaping have been formed to protect against adverse weather conditions and create special systems for collecting solar and wind energy. Thus, if we take into account natural and environmental factors, principles of shaping, natural relationships and competent functional content, it is possible to create an eco-friendly high-rise building that favorably affects the psycho-emotional state of a person.
