Muqarnas Pavilion

Project idea

The muqarnasat are geometric designs that were made with a very special technique. Some scholars have theorized that muqarnas originated in northeastern Iran. Muqarnasat were mainly used in religious monuments, as they were considered to be a symbol of God's presence. However, they could also be found in other buildings, such as palaces and stately homes. The main goal of this muqarnas pavilion is to combine between heritage, history and modernism through embracing different art exhibitions, and through its unique form. The branching / Tree structure used in the construction of the pavilion emphases on continuity and embracement.

Project description

The figure is a gradual geometric broadened form created by repeating several muqarnasat units in a spiral shape in a modern form combing between modern and ancient design. The project is divided into two processes: 1. 3D visualization of the pavilion using 3ds max software and vray 6. 2. Maquette model visualizing the pavilion in real life.
