Project idea
The idea behind this project is to create a school that is not just a place to learn, but a space that breathes with its community-growing, adapting, and supporting both students and local people. Inspired by the Insaka, a traditional gathering space, the goal is to honor cultural values while solving real-world needs through sustainable and replicable design.
Project description
This school is organized around three core buildings: the Academic Block, the Practical Unit, and the Dormitory. Each structure is designed as a circular space to promote dialogue, safety, and unity. The layout reflects a deep understanding of site dynamics-zoning noisy and quiet activities, allowing community interaction, and ensuring environmental integration through trees, agriculture, and low-tech water systems.
Technical information
The structures are built using ICEB interlocking blocks, compressed thatch tiles, timber, and recycled plastic bottle louver windows. These materials reduce costs, enable local labor, and enhance thermal comfort. Roofs are sloped inward for rainwater harvesting, and natural ventilation strategies create a low-energy, climate-smart campus.
