Functional comfort

Idea projektu

The task is to develop an interior design of a one-room apartment following the wishes of the customer. The apartment has a total area of 40,8 square meters. It consists of a kitchen-living room, a bedroom, a bathroom and an entrance hall. The interior should be made in a modern style, with a predominance of dark tones and with the presence of wood elements.

Popis projektu

The goal of the project was to create, on the one hand, a cozy and natural environment for a creative person, and on the other - a mobile, easily supplemented and rebuilt environment to suit the mood. The living room should become both a place where you can comfortably spend time alone, and a space where you can receive guests. For this purpose, the living room was divided into three conditional areas: the library area near the window is emphasized by a wooden podium, the recreation and reception area are distinguished by a soft sofa and a multimedia wall, and the kitchen area is located directly behind an elongated bar table. The bedroom is a personal space of a connoisseur of vinyl combined with a work area. To fulfill the needs for creativity, there is a whole chalk wall here, which is filled with small things – a pedestal, shelves and a suspension for a guitar. The working space occupies only a small, but sufficient part of the bedroom for work. In the interior there is a predominance of wooden coverings and a "green wall". Bright accents include red-pink velour chairs in the dining room and printed wallpaper in the sleeping area. The project uses modern technologies. For example, magnetic tracking system over the dining group for the mobility of lighting.

Functional comfort

Good evening Elizaveta, I'm Arch Nicholas Whitacre, one of this year's jurors, and I am here to give some feedback on your very interesting project. The living area is contemporary with warm tones, mixed with the use of natural materials like wood and stone. Light is used to accent important areas or guide the user, for example, where the light over the dinning table flows into the hallway indicating where the "public" area leads into the private. Fabrics are an important part to the design. Its colors always in earth tones except for the chairs that have a reddish tone that is meant to be separate either meant to be an accent or to show that is has a different purpose than the sofa or sac next to the window. Natural light flows in from the giant glass doors that overlook the sea. Even though it is just one step up, the elevation close to the window gives a sense of seclusion and privacy. The bedroom is brought together very well. Where the living/dinning room/kitchen is more neutral in its design, the bedroom is clearly more daring, having obviously been designed for someone of the creative type. Work, sleep and play have each their specific place in the room yet don't interfere with one another, if anything they complement each other. Personally, the black wall with wooden elements such as the guitar, shelves and table for the record player looks fantastic. There is nothing to say about the bathroom. It follows the same clean look as the rest of the apartment with good choice of tiles, color tones, etc. The front and back walls have white tile, while de sides have a brownish/grey tile that is perceived almost as wood. The wooden door in the middle of the white, in my perception, breaks the unity of the bathroom, but that is of my personal taste. In conclusion, this is a solid design that accomplished everything set out to achieve. Wonderfully done. Best Regards
