Bandar Lampung Mayor's Office

Idea projektu

The concept of the new Bandar Lampung Mayor's office consists of various mixed and matched concepts but still focuses on one main concept, that is "Green Building". The placement of the Mayor's office in an integrated area will create many tall buildings around the office which will cause global warming. The emergence of global warming makes renewable energy innovations that gave birth to the concept. Green Building or it can also be called Energy Saving Building is very prioritized in the design of a city. Indications of the "green" keyword when it comes to architecture include the use of renewable sources, the use of solar cells for power generation, and one of them that is used in the Mayor's office concept is the application of green-roof and rainfed gardens. The concept of the Bandar Lampung Mayor's office also adds a distinctive "Lampung" element. Although the modern design is very attractive, the traditional architecture is no less interesting. The combination of modern and traditional concepts will be more integrated and create a characteristic in the Bandar Lampung Mayor's office. For example, in the drop-off area, the concept is taken from the roof of a typical Lampung traditional house, that is "nuwo sesat". As well as typical Lampung ornaments placed in the drop-off area column. The ornaments are made of wood and the roof using a dark blue metal roof makes the drop-off area as well as the entrance one unit.

Bandar Lampung Mayor's Office

Dear Reinhard, I really appreciated your project, its presentation and the description that you make of it. I would like to discuss with you the formal side, the volume and certain details that seem to me to sin for lack of treatment and completion. Thus, the traditional roof on which you base the genesis of your project remains a very specific and exclusive element, the relevance of which is only understood after reading the description. It would perhaps be interesting to think about a more encompassing approach for the whole project, this is what will constitute, in your case, the challenge. It is very difficult in the architectural composition to proceed by a simple addition of elements which certainly have identities but which one thinks to constitute a coherent whole. I recommend that you take an interest in Gestalt theory to understand that a whole is more than the addition of the parts. In another aspect, I recommend that you treat the openings in the facade with more care. It seems to me that the horizontal cutting creates (for lack of care taken in the treatment of the cantilevered) a heaviness in the reading of the whole. This is exacerbated by the absence of thickness suggested by the frames placed flush with the external surface. To overcome this, it is strongly recommended to draw heavily on the work and thought of Louis Kahn. He explains better than anyone the importance of the facade, the work on the thickness and the "plaid" placed on the structure to which we can attribute a form of expression. Of course, I have only touched on a few aspects of your project here, it is rich and it gives rise to a lot of thought. He deserves encouragement. I wish you a happy progression in your studies.
