Weaving Utopia

Idea projektu

The project is located in Brno village, Czech Republic and covers an area of about 3 hectares. The project site is located on a hillside with a higher elevation in the west and a gradual decrease in the east, forming a natural landscape level. Under the premise of remodeling the preserved buildings, the core goal is to create a comprehensive community serving a diverse group of residents, seniors and tourists. Through the introduction of the roof garden, the connection between different people in the community is enhanced, and the harmonious symbiosis of the natural environment is emphasized, providing users with a vibrant living space close to nature. Through innovative design concepts and sustainable development strategies, the project adopts a modular approach to create a vibrant and integrated community close to nature.

Weaving Utopia

Set on a hillside in Brněnec, Czech Republic, this project aspires to weave together a sustainable, intergenerational residential community that blends into the natural landscape while reusing preserved structures on-site. The modular approach, which organizes the site into zones of commercial, residential, and public activity, demonstrates a clear zoning intent and responds to topographic variations with a layered landscape strategy. The architectural proposal seeks to merge historical continuity with contemporary living, employing red brick as a retained material and combining it with modular wood structures and white concrete. While the conceptual goals—harmonizing nature, community, and historical fabric—are commendable, the overall architectural articulation remains relatively underdeveloped. Spatial transitions, façade treatments, and the relationship between open and built areas would benefit from further refinement. Moreover, the visual identity of the modular units feels generic and could be enriched through detail and material nuance. Overall, the project has a meaningful vision and appropriate site sensitivity but would benefit from deeper design resolution, experiential richness, and architectural specificity to more fully realize its utopian ambitions.
