Liminal

Project idea

A coastal museum driven by the concept of liminality — the state of being in transition between two conditions, translated into architecture through a sequence of spaces that emphasize thresholds, ambiguity, and gradual transformation.

Project description

Liminal is a Coastal Museum of Culture, Landscape and Time located in North Cyprus, Kyrenis. The project explores the concept of liminality through architectural form and spatial sequence. The design features an observation deck, a cultural bridge (closure element), and a public plaza that together create a journey of transition between land and sea, culture and nature. The 18,600 m² museum is planned for 2026 and integrates dramatic cantilevered structures with coastal landscape, framing views of the Mediterranean sunset and creating spaces that blur the boundary between interior and exterior, built and natural environments.
