Project idea
The project is inspired by the fluid dynamics of musical notes and sound waves, aiming to materialize music into an architectural experience. Located at the Cairo Opera House outdoor plaza, it serves as a cultural hub that bridges sound, space, and community, providing an interactive monument where visitors can connect with the rhythmic identity of the site.
Project description
The structure creates a shaded public retreat during the day and transforms into an illuminated sculptural landmark at night. It includes pedestrian pathways, integrated seating areas, and a central platform designed to host flexible outdoor musical performances.
Technical information
The pavilion is constructed using a parametric design system. The fluid overhead canopy is made of high-durability White FRP (Fiber-Reinforced Plastic) panels, supported by a dense rhythm of vertical, cylindrical wooden poles. The flooring seamlessly combines structural gray concrete pathways with high-visibility red rubber flooring to outline the pedestrian traffic
