Dune Boutique Hotel

Project idea

A boutique hotel design inspired by the natural movement of sand dunes in Fayoum, Egypt, translating organic flowing lines into architectural form to create a sensory spatial experience connecting nature and architecture.

Project description

The design is based on organic flowing lines inspired by the natural movement of sand dunes. These lines were translated into the architectural form to create a sense of continuous motion within the space. The central section represents the core design idea, where the organic lines intersect to shape a dynamic and fluid spatial experience. Located in Fayoum, the surrounding natural landscape including dunes and soft landforms served as a primary source of inspiration. The design aims to establish a visual and sensory connection with the environment. Curved and continuous forms mimic the natural flow of sand shaped by wind. Variations in levels and sections enhance the feeling of movement and spatial fluidity. The relationship between vertical and horizontal spaces guides visual and physical movement throughout the project.

Technical information

Ground plan at scale 1:100 and mezzanine plan at scale 1:100 are presented. Section AA is shown at scale 1:30. Wood was selected as a primary material to introduce warmth and a natural atmosphere. Textured wall finishes were used to balance softness and solidity within the interior spaces. Marble was incorporated to add elegance while maintaining harmony with the surrounding environment. All materials were inspired by the local materials and colors of Fayoum, reinforcing contextual integration. The design focuses on creating a sensory architectural experience, allowing users to feel the motion and flow of space. Smooth transitions between spaces eliminate sharp boundaries and enforce continuity.
