Advice to students

Shindler's Ark Museum

The "Schindler's Ark Museum" project offers a thoughtful and respectful adaptive reuse approach, sensitively restoring historic buildings and integrating new glass pavilions to create a dialogue between heritage and contemporary architecture. The project's ambition to promote sustainability while honoring historical memory aligns well with the New European Bauhaus initiative’s core values. The clear material palette of concrete, glass, and steel provides a restrained and elegant architectural expression appropriate for a site of profound historical significance. However, while the intentions are commendable, the project would benefit from deeper exploration of spatial sequencing, visitor experience design, and the emotional narrative journey through the site. Greater attention to landscape integration and transitions between old and new structures would further enhance the experiential continuity. Overall, this is a respectful and promising proposal that demonstrates sensitivity to context, with room for additional architectural refinement and storytelling depth.
