A research center project to develop the manufacture of electronic chips and optical fibers in New Ismailia
It is a project that aims to exploit the white sand resource in Egypt in the manufacture of electronics, microelectronic chips, and optical fibers, in order to achieve Egypt’s entry into the technological race around the world, to provide hard currency to Egypt, and to make Egypt one of the leading countries in the fields of technology.
The project is located in the New Ismailia area in order to achieve Egypt’s 2050 plan to develop the New Suez Canal and East Qantara Zone (SCZone), which aims to make this region a technological center for Egypt.
The project consists of: Research center, Central Exhibition, Electronic Exhibitions, Educational zoon, Robotic Mall, Sponsors Administration zoon, Researchers Residential zoon
the construction of the building is 2 types:
1-In the (mall, research center, electronic exhibition) is flat slab structure with space truss roof.
2-In the central Exhibition the structure is steel columns with preisings because of the slanted facade and the roof is space frame structure.
The "Tetra Research Center" project takes on a highly ambitious and nationally significant program, seeking to position Egypt as a technological leader through research and innovation in microelectronics and optical fiber industries. The vision to strategically locate the center within the New Ismailia and Suez Canal Economic Zone aligns well with broader national development goals. The division of functions—research, exhibition, education, administration, and residential components—shows an understanding of the complexity required for such a center. However, while the programmatic ambition is commendable, the architectural articulation remains underdeveloped. The spatial relationships between zones, the integration of landscape, and the quality of public spaces are not sufficiently refined to match the scale and importance of the project. Furthermore, the structural systems are appropriate but are described primarily in technical terms without deeper integration into the architectural language or environmental strategies. To elevate the project, a more rigorous exploration of urban design principles, architectural expression, user experience, and sustainable technologies is necessary. Overall, the concept is strong in intention but would benefit from significantly greater architectural depth and spatial coherence.
