Advice to students

This proposal presents an elegant and well-resolved approach to coastal hospitality, carefully calibrated to celebrate its proximity to the sea while embedding strong principles of comfort, sustainability and regional sensitivity. The central design ambition to ensure that every room and space has a clear view of the ocean is not only a poetic gesture but a spatial strategy that pays homage to the site's geographical and environmental context. The project demonstrates a successful orchestration of massing and orientation. The branching layout of the building, almost reminiscent of an embracing form, unfolds gently toward the shoreline. This fan like arrangement allows natural light and air to permeate every corridor, suite and shared space while maximizing oceanfront visual access. It’s a solution that reflects both technical awareness and emotional empathy ensuring that every guest feels deeply connected to the unique coastal atmosphere. Technically, the plan illustrates an intelligent zoning logic with the integration of primary functions such as accommodation, spa services, recreational areas and administrative cores effectively delineated while maintaining fluid spatial transitions. Circulation routes are clear and the spatial proportions of the rooms suggest thoughtful attention to guest comfort. The central courtyard-like void acts as a visual and spatial anchor inviting light and offering natural ventilation while serving as a communal heart. Of particular merit is the project's commitment to local materiality. The thoughtful use of indigenous construction resources not only grounds the architecture in its context but supports sustainability, cultural authenticity and economic responsiveness. The emphasis on passive cooling and natural daylighting through architectural form and facade treatment is commendable, particularly in an era demanding climate-conscious design. Moreover, the project’s graphic communication is commendably layered. Plans are legible and detailed, exploded views and conceptual diagrams offer insight into the design development process, while elevations and sections clearly articulate the spatial experience across scales. The inclusion of site and contextual studies adds richness to the narrative and reflects the student’s dedication to place-making over generic hospitality design. In conclusion, this is a refined and sensitive architectural response that balances aesthetic presence, technical logic and emotional resonance. It celebrates the essence of coastal Croatia not with grand spectacle but through quiet precision and generosity of view. The student shows both technical competency and conceptual maturity, positioning this proposal as a deeply rooted, highly experiential and environmentally responsive hospitality destination.
