Design of a mixed used building

Project idea

The mixed-use building incorporates a hotel, retail spaces, and a community centre, embracing the concept of mixed usage for sustainability and vitality. The hotel in the middle, serves as a welcoming space, offering amenities like food, laundry, and leisure facilities. The retail section at the front features both open and air-conditioned areas, catering to local residents and hotel guests alike. A tranquil lily pond enhances natural ventilation and adds to the ambience. Solar panels and retention pond water power the building, while a green roof promotes environmental stewardship. The community centre fosters interaction and engagement within the complex. By combining various functions, our building promotes pedestrian-friendly environments, efficient land use, and a vibrant urban experience.

Project description

This mixed use project aims to address socially relevant concepts by creating adaptable spaces and architectonic forms that cater to diverse needs. Through the integration of function, form, and structure, we tackle a relatively complex program that includes various public functions and services. Careful analysis of the site and its context, coupled with integrated landscape ideas, ensures that our design harmonies with its surroundings.I prioritise universal accessibility by designing pedestrian and vehicular circulation systems that are inclusive and user-friendly. Additionally, we incorporate climatic considerations into our building's form, orientation, and composition to enhance comfort and sustainability. By focusing on these key elements, This project seeks to create a dynamic and responsive environment that enriches the lives of its users while contributing positively to the surrounding community and ecosystem.

Technical information

The building integrates multiple strategies to prioritise user comfort and environmental sustainability. Through careful building orientation, life cycle assessments of materials, and the implementation of passive and active techniques for lighting, ventilation, and water conservation, we ensure energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Additionally, we employ techniques such as grey water reuse and efficient waste management to further minimise resource consumption. Technologies like Building Information Modelling and Building Automation Systems, coupled with certifications like LEED and GRIHA, help us optimise performance and meet sustainability goals. Constructed with a blend of concrete for structural stability and wooden louvres for aesthetic appeal and sun control, the building embodies both functionality and beauty in its design.
