Project idea
Concept & Design Philosophy: The project introduces a "Neo-Arabic" architectural and interior identity, meticulously balancing modern minimalism with traditional Egyptian folk heritage. Designed as a two-story building—featuring a retail showroom on the ground floor and an administrative mezzanine—the space is conceptualized around the intricate geometry, rich textures, and cultural narratives of traditional Kilim weaving. The design translates the authentic craftsmanship of local artisans into a contemporary spatial experience. Context & Materiality: The material palette is deeply rooted in the local Egyptian environment, heavily featuring warm, earthy tones such as terracotta, sandstone, and beige, contrasted with subtle olive greens. Through a refined use of textured rammed earth and tactile sandstone surfaces, the interior evokes a strong sense of place and belonging. Traditional elements, such as abstract geometric forms and stylized local motifs (inspired by rural heritage, palm trees, and protection motifs), are seamlessly integrated into the structural detailing, furniture pieces, and modular features. Goals & Objectives: Cultural Revival: To reinvent traditional Egyptian folk heritage through a minimalist lens, proving that authentic motifs can drive contemporary commercial designs. Spatial Efficiency & Harmony: To achieve a fluid, functional transition between the dynamic, public energy of the retail zone and the calm, focused environment of the administrative headquarters. Identity Branding: To create a physical space that acts as an extension of the "Kilim" brand itself, where the architecture tells the story of the product, attracting both regional appreciation and international interest.
