Reuse & Refunction heritage building, Arab Yasar

Project idea

Convert the existing building to a motel because the area has the most antique heritage mosques that passed throughout the Egypt history which catch a lot of tourists and also it is on the main street. The main concept is to keep the facades which are describes the Islamic style for a certain period and convert the existing building to an administration and service zone and add a new building that has the guest rooms zone.

Project description

The value behind the revival and reuse of the building: The historical reasons: the building was built in 1864 set up by el-khdway asmael and named koshk el-khdway. The clothing of the kaba came out from the building every year and it is continued until 1962 which means it has a historic value,and the building turned into the national party, and the building's exposure to damage at the events of the revolution in January 2011. The physical reason: The building classified as a modern style. decision: keep the façade and paint it with the original color.

Technical information

keep The outline walls and change some of the interior walls to catch up with the new function Which is motel. while the tear down the wall process happens the walls that may be affected by the tear down will be supported by wood bars. the structure system of the old building as it was and the new building (extension) is a flat slab module 6*4m
