The Sustainable living village

Project idea

The subject of the study is a site located in Brněnec - a small village in the Czech Republic, with a predominantly rural character, located on the express railroad line connecting Brno, Prague and Vienna. The scope of the project is the southern part of a plot of land owned by the Löw-Beer family - descendants of the owners of a pre-war textile factory. The purpose of this study is to attempt to design a model housing system that responds to the needs of an individual in a time of changing needs with age, and to develop a concept for a new multi-family housing development to revitalize the village of Brněnec in the Czech Republic. By analyzing existing housing challenges, especially in the context of an aging population, the work seeks to find innovative and sustainable architectural solutions. The housing development is designed to respond effectively to the specific needs of an aging population, while offering modern, comfortable living conditions. The work aims not only to create a functional residential environment, but also to take into account social and cultural aspects in order to make the new housing development more attractive to a diverse group of residents. At the same time, the project aims to integrate the area under development with the surrounding village, giving it a new character, creating a harmonious connection between modernity and tradition and history. An important stage of the project was to create "life between buildings," which meant designing social, public and semi-public spaces. Their purpose is not only to connect individual buildings, but first and foremost to build neighborhood ties and develop interpersonal relationships through friendly and functional architecture. These spaces are intended to be places where residents would have the opportunity to meet, interact and spend time together, which fosters community integration and creates a sense of community. Taking into account social needs in the design of spaces between buildings, the aspiration of the project is to create a harmonious and friendly environment that fosters active participation of residents in the social life of all residents of the estate.
