Sereia Resort Design-Marsa Allam

Project idea

Nestled on the serene shores of Marsa Alam, Sereia Resort captures the soul of the Red Sea through flowing architectural forms, earthy textures, and a palette inspired by the coast’s untouched beauty. The resort is a visual and sensory journey, where design mimics nature—fluid, organic, and inviting. Design Language and Aesthetic Columns as Underwater Trees: The centerpiece of the interior is defined by monumental, sculptural columns that fan outward like giant coral formations. Made of natural wood and contrasting tones, these elements evoke both organic sea life and Bedouin craftsmanship, connecting the structure to the land and sea simultaneously. One set of columns features a warm, golden wood tone, resembling palm trunks or sun-kissed desert formations. The other set uses cool, deep blue hues, echoing the Red Sea’s depths, shadows, and coral reefs. Flowing Ceiling Lines: The undulating, curved ceiling mimics the gentle rhythm of ocean waves and the sculpted rock formations of Marsa Alam’s coastal caves. These soft waves travel across the space, guiding movement and creating a calming, natural flow throughout the lobby. Ceiling and floor lines are intentionally non-linear, reflecting wind-swept dunes and sea currents. Lighting subtly highlights the curves, adding a sense of depth and fluidity. Color & Material Palette Inspired by the seascapes, corals, and sands of Marsa Alam, the resort’s palette includes: Sandy beige and off-white for walls and floors, creating a sun-washed canvas. Wood textures in various tones — warm for sun, cool for water. Ocean blues and sea greens introduced in furniture, columns, and subtle accents. Touches of lavender and magenta reflect Marsa Alam’s famous sunsets and underwater coral life. Atmosphere & Experience Every curve, material, and element is designed to soothe the senses, just like the gentle rhythm of the sea. Guests feel immersed in a world that blurs the boundary between land and water, structure and nature, luxury and tranquility—a true homage to Marsa Alam's magic.

Project description

This project consists of: 1.main lobby area and counter with its flowy designed connected to the stairs handrail of the mezzanine floor which is the restaurant area 2.a bar in the ground from half serving the indoor cafe area and other half serving the outdoor deck cafe 3.elevator to ease the access to the restaurant 4.wc near the main entrance of the resort fir easy access 5.A double height lounge area with a curved sunken seating area with a double height laminated glass preserving the marsa alam's rare plants surrounding it more seatings.

Technical information

Structural System: The resort is designed using a hybrid structural system that allows for both fluid aesthetics and durability in the harsh coastal environment: Reinforced concrete frame forms the structural backbone, ensuring resistance to wind, salt corrosion, and seismic activity. Steel reinforcements are used in the cantilevered and curved ceiling forms, especially over large spans, such as in the lobby. A steel or concrete core for load support. Cladding of wood or laminated composite materials shaped in vertical fins to mimic organic forms. Anti-salt and anti-moisture coating for marine durability. Facade & Envelope: The building is wrapped in laminated glass panels with UV protection and thermal coating, allowing sunlight to flow in while keeping interiors cool. Natural stone cladding in some areas reflects desert tones. Parametric sunshades and pergolas are integrated to control light and enhance the curvy, wave-like architecture. Ceilings and Interiors: Ceilings are constructed with lightweight metal framing (MF ceiling system) and bent plywood or stretch materials, allowing for their fluid, seamless curves. Integrated LED lighting systems follow the ceiling curves, creating soft illumination that mimics sunrise and sunset transitions. Outdoor Deck Area Construction (Seaside Lounge & Relaxation Terrace) Designed to celebrate the open horizon of Marsa Alam, the outdoor deck is a key feature for guest relaxation, dining, and sunset watching. Structure & Materials: The deck is built with a steel substructure anchored with marine-grade bolts and corrosion-resistant treatments. Decking boards are made from: Thermo-treated wood (like ash or pine) or composite WPC (Wood-Plastic Composite) to withstand high heat, salt air, and humidity. Surface treated with non-slip finishes for safety.

Design do Resort Sereia - Marsa Allam

Este projeto demonstra um talento muito brilhante do autor em moldar, manipular livremente e fazer malabarismos com eles. No entanto, há também uma certa redundância da solução de design. As colunas propostas em forma de leque têm uma imagética expressiva. Os tons ocre da coluna e as claraboias espreitando pelos furos criam uma atmosfera maravilhosa.

Provavelmente, a proposta de alternar a cor das colunas em forma de leque não contribui para a harmonia visual. Além disso, as colunas com enfeite de ramificação em forma de árvore são redundantes. Em geral, há variedade demais de soluções decorativas: desde colunas com ripas verticais até colunas brancas com inserções douradas verticais até decoração em zigue-zague dos halls de elevadores com formas curvilíneas de painéis de madeira no hall - tudo isso demonstra um design muito caótico como um todo, enquanto cada fragmento individual se vê ótimo.
