Pediatric Hospital

Project idea

An accredited health care facility dedicated to the specialized care of infants, children, and adolescents. Although adults may occasionally be treated for medical conditions in these facilities, the expertise of a pediatric hospital is focused on caring for patients 18 years old or younger. The design of children’s hospital buildings is a key to the health and environmental performance and competitive viability of both private and governmental caregiving centers, as now, good designs will feature hybrid configurations tailored to meet the different types of healthcare in each and every healthcare builder.

Project description

Main entrance The dedicated main entrance to the children’s unit is for the use of patients, careers, and visitors who require access to this facility only. In a refurbishment, if only one main entrance to the hospital exists. Main reception The reception area is the focal point – it should be located in an open space directly inside the entrance and be immediately visible. Staff should be able to see all patients and careers entering the unit and should have a clear vision of the children’s waiting/play areas. CCTV should be installed in strategic places. Reception desk The design of the reception desk should be of high quality and allow access for people with disabilities. It should take into account the varied heights and sizes of children. The countertop should have two heights; one for wheelchair‐users and children (71 cm), and one for older children and adults at standing height for occasional writing (1 m; computers should be located behind this part of the desk).

Technical information

 Use of efficient and water-conserving sanitary fixtures  The waste management strategy has been considered in the project, which is also one of the vital sustainability and LEED requirement to reduce building waste generated, by the building during construction and its lifetime operation. Dedicated central waste storage and recycling area have been allocated to do sorting within the space or provision to sort outside by waste facility companies.  Automated Solar Energy Natural Ventilation(opening) system rain sensor That enhances internal ventilation ./VSE/  PV‐Photovoltaic Panel Renewable electric power/m2 The engineering services systems have been developed to incorporate flexibility in terms of both operation, future adaptation and consider various features such as those summarized below. There are however practical and future provisions.
